Lincoln has a history dating back to the pre-Roman times, with Lincoln Castle and Cathedral having been built over a millenia ago. It then became an engineering city, responsible for building most British tanks in WW2. Today, it has transformed into a city full of small businesses, E-commerce and IT.
Lincoln’s broadband has been on the rise in recent years, with BT upgrading its infrastructure in 2012, affecting over 30,000 homes in the area. A since a large portion of the business that happens in Lincoln is now administration and IT, a strong broadband connection is vital to the city.
Lincoln’s 4G service has also recently improved, with mobile broadband becoming a big source of much of the city’s connections. Whilst this can be harder to reach when in more remote parts of the city, Lincoln’s 4G is generally on par with that the rest of the UK has to offer.

The LN3 area of Lincoln has been found the have the highest speeds in the city, occasionally reaching over 23Mb on average. On the lower end of the scale is LN4 with around 18Mb - still faster than much of the UK.
All the major UK providers can be access by Lincoln residents, with firms such as Sky, BT and Virgin Media all operating in the area.
Whilst fibre-optic broadband hasn’t hit the whole of the city as of yet, the major UK providers also offer fibre options to those who can take them, with TalkTalk Fibre, BT Infinity and Virgin Media Fibre services available.
Whilst it’s taken a while to get there, Lincoln now has a perfectly stable and reliable broadband connection, making both residential and business use possible.
